We guard wells against the possible intrusion of seawater, analysing water samples during drilling to check for the problem. Such seepage is not uncommon in coastal areas, especially where pumping from other water wells has created a hydrostatic imbalance that can suck seawater into a fresh-water aquifer. Seawater seepage can and has doomed many wells, especially on Saudi Arabia’s gulf coast, where saltwater has entered aquifers as far as 40 kilometers inland. Bravo Consultancy can save compromised wells with techniques that include changing extraction depths and pumping rates, as well as by designing a chain of barrier wells to safeguard aquifers deeper inland.

Measuring Metallic Corrosion
We measure metallic corrosion and forecast the likely future corrosion in a well via a series of chemical, acoustic, and electromagnetic tests of the well components and surrounding lithology. Based on our findings, we advise clients on proper maintenance and the advisability of installing cathodic-protection systems such as sacrificial anodes. Bravo Consultancy also designs and installs these anti-corrosion systems for well componentry and pipelines.

We analyse aquifers for the presence of radioactivity, be it radioactive isotopes from a granite basement rock, illicitly discharged industrial waste, or nuclear tests. This is a special concern in some areas. Bravo Consultancy experts participated in a recent investigation of aquifers in one Gulf country that identified dangerous levels of radioactivity in three areas, including a large one with several water wells in it. If radioactivity is present, Bravo Consultancy can advise clients on well closure, alternate siting, or, in some cases, osmotic treatment.

On-Site feasibility Studies
We conduct on-site studies of the feasibility and cost of projects for wells, both shallow and deep. For this, our engineers, geologists, and technicians benefit from a unique competitive edge. Bravo Consultancy has developed a database of detailed hydraulic and geological information from the more than 1,400 water wells our experts have built and outfit with instruments—that’s so large the database is regularly consulted by Saudi Aramco and Saudi Arabia’s ministry of water. Based on our findings, we advise clients on optimal siting, equipment, and procedures for a given project.
6. Well Inspection
We inspect well casings, liners, hangers, and screens for ruptures, foreign bodies, and other problems using a special camera system with frontal and lateral lenses and a zoom feature. This service is available for wells as deep as 1,000 meters. It is particularly recommended for old wells of uncertain design for which detailed knowledge of componentry and construction techniques allows for better maintenance and exploitation. Our clients receive a report consisting of high-resolution colour video, measurement data including inclination, and a detailed interpretation of the images. We also carry out “fishing” jobs to retrieve tools or obstacles that have fallen down a well.
7. Environmental-Impact Studies
We carry out environmental-impact studies and prepare the necessary documentation for tenders. Our experts have drawn up documentation for successful tender bids that were reviewed by the European Union, the World Bank, and development programs run by a number of countries as well as the United Nations Development Programme.
8. Well Extrapolation
We extrapolate a well’s future rates of encrustation by chemically analysing samples of water and mineral deposits in contact with a well’s screen, gravel pack, casing, and other components. These tests help reveal how productive and long-lasting a well will likely be. Based on its findings, Bravo Consultancy advises clients on the designs, materials, and maintenance and cleaning procedures that will most extend a given well’s .
9. Technical Reports
We prepare technical reports on legacy wells, including the structures’ designs, materials, componentry, and the surrounding geological formations. Many well owners have insufficient information about their property, and that renders maintenance and repair expensive.
10. Ageing Well Rehabilitation
Ageing Well Rehabilitation
We rehabilitate aging wells to reestablish their hydraulic efficiency. This can involve replacing screens and gravel packs, as well as removing encrustations and other materials such as ocher, sludge, and sand, which reduce hydraulic flow. Depending on circumstances, we do this by brushing, swabbing, scraping, surge-jetting, air-lifting, over-pumping, and treating with acid.
11. Databank Design & Maintenance
DataBank Design & Maintenance
We design and maintain databanks on the performance of our clients’ wells. Our service includes the installation of a suite of logging instruments tailored to the client’s needs. The resulting data is sent via satellite or a cellular network to a control room which can be run by Bravo Consultancy or by our client. Good data collection and its proper interpretation is crucial for wells of medium depth. For deep wells, it is essential. Benefits include reduced maintenance costs. A good databank can also help our clients secure additional and inexpensive financing, if that is ever needed.
12. Chemical, Mineralogical, and Bacteriological Analysis
Chemical, Mineralogical, and Bacteriological Analysis
We carry out chemical, mineralogical, and bacteriological analyses of water samples. Subsequently, we advise clients on optimal procedures for mechanical and chemical treatments of the water in accordance with the use to which it will be put. Our team has special expertise in water from aquifers in the Arabian Peninsula, which are typically rich in carbonates, chlorides, phosphates, silicates, and other minerals.

Drill & Archive Core Samples
We drill and archive core samples of a geological formation for purposes that range from an analysis of a rock’s porosity to its mineralogical properties or mechanical strength. We extract core samples with variable barrel lengths and diameters of three, four, or, if requested, more inches.

Technical Conferences & Workshops
We design and conduct technical conferences and workshops for water-well engineers and technicians, in accordance with our clients’ needs. Such offerings are common in the oil and gas sectors, but water-well professionals remain underserved. Topics include: corrosion and cathodic protection; the accumulation and monitoring of encrustations; procedures for the drilling and construction of medium and deep wells; what hydro-geologists need to know about interpreting data logs; the proper installation of screens and gravel packs; exploiting a water well’s databank by linking data files to Google mapping software; and the functionality and installation of STOP-SAND protective devices.
15. On-Site Studies
We execute on-site studies for construction and mining firms to determine if seepage from an aquifer could lead to problems such as the flooding of a building’s foundation or a metro network.
